:: New Job, New Company as IT Support Engineer ::
Wah! Lagi Long never blog le. I didn't know blogger format change already also... Now I can see that I've got a total of 17203 views! haha! Not alot I think...
Today's my first day of a new job! I've got a great review for this job compared to the previous one. Medisol Pte Ltd. Though it's an SME, and I've only got little increment from my previous job but the working environment is great! Only a handful of employees here that feels like they are probably around my age including my supervisor so it's quite easy to clique (unlike the botak asshole from my previous workplace). My boss seems very nice... but... he... talks... slow... XP (reminds me of my boss in HQ BMTC)
The second good point is that the location is still far but much nearer compared to my previous workplace (previously is 2.5hr travel from Pasir Ris to Buona Vista, now it's 1.5hrs travel from Pasir Ris to Orchard) AND the working hours starts from 9am compared to 8am. SO I need not wake up so early anymore. On top of that, I reached office today at 9am but there was nobody... -_-"
Only boss was around, the rest all strolled in after 9.20am onwards... No punctuality?? Good or Bad? You tell me! Previously at my last workplace, it's an MNC, so we had to tap in and tap out everyday to make sure we start on time and no chance to end before time. It sucked, seriously... Where's the freedom and flexibility yo?!
OT is going to be expected but hearing from my supervisor, seems rare or rather once a week or fortnightly as compared to my previous workplace who made me work OT everyday! At least 3hrs daily! Including Public holidays! I haven't mention that later on they even introduced the monthly rotating night shifts and I was a guinea pig! They didn't care if yesterday was your night shift, as long as the next day is the next month, you have to start morning shift. What the cheesecake!Where's the promised work-life balance??
Travelling will be expected as well, to different sites (Clinics or Hospital) but cab fare is claimable and my supervisor says it's rare as well, probably a few months once. Most problems can be fixed from office, via the internet or the phone. Today I was brought to 5 sites and knocked off at 5.50pm at Tampines! How convenient!! Woohoo!! Probably only today though...
I think the last thing is dress code. Though the previous company allows me to wear Polo + Jeans, they provided me a lab coat which was in my opinion damn ugly and redundant. This company only allows normal business wear, meaning Shirt + Pants, less comfortable but at least I can fold up my sleeves because probably I'm sort of an Engineer right? (my job title is IT Support Engineer)
Prospect wise, still unknown as this is just the first day... but I heard they might send me for certification courses later on for upgrading. But all that seems fine with me so far considering all the plus points I have against my previous company.
The only good thing from my previous workplace is finding my True Love! =)
Overall, I think this is a good company, and I see myself working here for at least 3-4yrs. Praise the Lord!
